First of all, thank you to all the Irish music fans who came out to the riverfront green yesterday afternoon to support Seisiun as they entertained the crowd at Celebration! The boys were really showed them how it's done Irish style! Joe Murphy, Mike O'Hanlon, and Scotty Mettey blasted them with songs and banged out the jigs and reels to the very last minute! Festival chairman Dan Dennehy was on hand racing around the grounds making sure everybody received one of our great new flyers for the festival. Also the Peekskill St. Patrick's committee helped out selling T-shirts and the recently released Irish music album featuring local Irish music talent. The weather held out all day, the dragon boats raced into the afternoon, and the glorious sounds of the pipes and drums of local 21 could be heard dancing on the water as they stormed the field to the delight of the audience!
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the final Hudson Valley Irish Festival pub quiz on Sunday, September 20, 2009 act Kelly's in Peekskill. The two-for-one drink special and pub food will begin at 5:00 PM with the quiz to follow! This promises to be a great event and please tell all your friends and family! Get your teams together now and contact Dan Dennehy to sign up in advance, if you like! We look forward to seeing you at the quiz!
We are still welcoming folks who want to join the Hudson Valley Irish Fest volunteer army! Help is needed in several areas, so if you'd like to come and enjoy the day and help support Irish-American culture in the Hudson Valley, please contact Brian Kelly 914.384.1343! What better way to get it right up close and personal and work behind the scenes at the greatest Irish festival around?!
